Pen name of Henri-Alban Fournier (1886-1914) French novelist. His haunting semiautobiographical fantasy Le Grand Meaulnes/The Lost Domain 1913 was a cult novel of the 1920s and 1930s. His life is intimately recorded in his correspondence with his brother-in-law Jacques Rivière. He was killed in action on the Meuse in World War I.
